Berdoll Retail Store . |
Dear Friends,
Another great year has quickly flown by. I can’t believe how fast time is ticking. Somehow, it seems every year we are
blessed even more by our business and personal lives.
My parents, Hal and Lisa Berdoll, have now been in the pecan business for 32 years. What started with 5,000 pecan trees
and selling pecans out of their home garage has now turned into quite a business. We now have 15,000 pecan trees on 340 acres
and a 5,000 square foot retail store where we sell shelled pecans, cracked pecans, inshell pecans, over 20 candied, flavored, and
sugar-free chocolate pecans, and an unlimited amount of unique gift items. The candy and gift business continues to prosper. The
sweets really seem to be the way to our customers’ hearts. For the first time this fall we will be baking and selling a Pumpkin Pie
with Pecan Streusel topping. I loved being the taste tester for that recipe. The gift items in the store range from Texas souvenirs,
candles, western décor, a large cross wall, kids toys, and much more. The retail store is open 7 days a week year round. If we
can’t meet you personally we hope that you will visit our website, www.berdoll.com, or use our 24 hour pecan vending machine
located on the porch of our store.
The most important part of our business is continuing it as a family. What started as a family of five is growing, growing,
and growing. One day we will be able to have lots of Berdoll’s working at the retail store. Jared and I welcomed our son Logan
on May 6, 2011. We never thought life could be so great with a little one. We are learning to juggle the tasks of raising our baby,
and still be present at the store as much as possible. Kylene and Will’s baby girl, Kyndall, just turned 1 year old. We are ready
to put her to work! Kylene and Will are still enjoying the farm life. They both work, but also find time to raise goats, sheep and
whitetail deer. Brandon and Brandi are adding another little one to the Berdoll clan. They are expecting a baby boy due on
Christmas Eve. Brandon is still running his successful sawmill business and Brandi continues to manage the retail store. Hal
and Lisa continue to work hard while caring for their 15,000 tree pecan orchard and 150,000 pecan tree nursery. However, they
are slowing down a tad bit and enjoying every moment of being grandparents. They enjoy taking their grandbabies on outdoor
rides through the pecan orchard and certainly spoil them rotten.
The pecan crop has been a challenge this year. With the extreme heat and lack of rain, we have had to change our irrigation
system to a drip system to conserve water. With this system all of the nourishment goes straight to the nuts, filling them out
nicely so that our customers get the excellent quality pecans you expect and deserve.
We continue to love our business and especially our customers. We would not be able to do what we really enjoy without our
dedicated staff and loyal customers. Thank you for your business!
