Berdoll Retail Store
As always this has been a year of fun and exciting changes.
On April 1, 2012 my parents, Hal and Lisa, sold their 20,000 pecan tree orchards and nursery business. After 33 years Hal
and Lisa decided to check farming off their list. Their business, which started as just pecan trees looking like sticks and selling
pecans out of their home garage, has really flourished. We are so proud of the business that our parents built and happy to see
them slowing down a little. Lisa is getting the new owners trained on the books and Hal is consulting for 4 years. The new
owners are a great group of people who plan to keep operations the same. No need to worry, they will still be providing the retail
store and our mail order business with the same high quality pecans that we have always been proud of.
Continuing to work as a family is still on the top of our priority list. In their spare time Hal & Lisa are happy to be loving
on one of their 3 grandchildren. Jared and I continue to own the retail store and our main focus this year has been our new
production facility. Jared just completed our 8,750 square foot processing plant and candy making facility. It is located next to
the retail store. We are so excited to have all of our facilities so close. Our son, Logan (18 months), keeps me very busy. I love
motherhood, and in between playgroups, music classes, and swim lessons, I drag Logan to the retail store to help me work.
Kylene and Will are the animal lovers in our family, raising sheep, goats, and white tail deer. They have a daughter, Kyndall,
who just turned 2. Kylene continues to keep her clients relaxed with her wonderful massages and Will works in law enforcement.
This year we all spent Christmas day at the hospital welcoming Brandi and Brandonís son, Clay, into the world. We all agree he
is the best Christmas gift we will ever receive. Brandi loves being at home with Clay and helps Brandon in growing his furniture
making and sawmill business. I tell my siblings they better keep having babies so we can put them to work in a few years.
Our main focus for 2012 was getting our new production facility built and expanding our wholesale accounts. In October
we added a mascot right outside our store. Ms. Pearl, our 14 foot custom-made foam squirrel welcomes our customers into our
parking lot. We encourage customers to stop and take their photo with her. Email the photo to email@example.com to be added
to our squirrel wall.
We expect a great year for pecans. While going through the worst drought in Texas history, we are happy to ease your mind.
The pecan trees are doing great and are loaded with lots of pecans due to non-stop irrigation and lots of tender love and care.
We appreciate your mail order business and encourage you to stop by the retail store and take your photo with Ms.Pearl, visit
our 24 hour pecan candy and pecan pie vending machine, see our new facility, taste the many samples we have to offer, and
checkout all of the unique gift items in the store. They range from t-shirts, Texas souvenirs, candles, chimes, crosses, pecan oil,
jams and jellies. As always, we are looking forward to another great holiday season.
We thank our customers and excellent employees for allowing us to do what we love!
